How to Get Your First 1,000 True Fans

If you want to build an audience that truly loves you, that wants to tell their friends all about you, that wants to buy all of your products, you need to first get 1,000 TRUE, diehard fans.

Nobody got to 100,000 followers, a loyal following, and a true business off engagement farming and botting. The only way you can grow a successful online presence is with TRUE fans.

I got to 200,000 followers and a 6 figure business in the last 2 years because of the strategies I’m about to lay out for you. These strategies got me a core group of 5-10 true fans who replied to everything I put out.

This got my momentum going. Eventually I grew those 5 true fans into 20. Then 100. Then 1,000. It’s a snowball that builds slowly, then all at once.

These aren’t hacks or cheats. These are strategic action items you can take today that if you keep doing them long enough, you will build an unbelievably loyal audience.

Figure out your message

First thing you need to do is figure out what you stand for. What your main message is. This is the message that will attract others to you. It’ll be the core of all your content and why people keep coming back to your profile.

For me, my main message is ‘authenticity will get you anywhere’. All the content I build and conversations I have online come back to this one pivotal theme.

You need to figure out what your message is. Here is how I found mine:

Brain dumps. Open up a notepad (I use Notion) and start brain dumping all the main principles you stand for. What are the values that truly drive your life?

After doing this for half an hour with no distraction, try to find a commonality between several of your values. You can even dump this list into ChatGPT and ask what your main message should be.

People buy into messages and causes. If you’re going to have 1000 true fans, you need to have a message they’re going to buy into.

Build your personal story

Now that you have a message you stand for, you need to start building your personal story. This personal story is going to make content creation SO much easier. Your story is the vehicle in which you deliver your message.

What is a personal story? A personal story is all your failures, successes, and lessons learned in your life. All the content I create comes back to my personal story.

I regularly tweet about the time I got hacked for thousands of dollars (failure), how I built my online business to 6 figures (success), how I teach myself things like coding (lessons).

It’s this personal story that makes your message much more digestible. This is what gets people truly interested in YOU.

Another exercise for you: brain dump your failures, successes, and lessons learned. Whenever you are brainstorming content to write, you can come back to this list.

Have no lessons learned? That’s totally cool. Go out and get some lessons. Teach yourself coding. Learn how to video edit. Anything. Just go onto the internet and find things to learn.

Build Authentic Relationships

Now that you know your message that will drive everything you create, plus you have a personal story to tell so people get invested in YOU as a human, it’s time to start connecting with others.

Luckily, if you’re on X this will be really easy to do.

First and most easy, reply. I’m constantly telling people to develop a reply guy strategy. Not just for the fun of it, but because it is the most impactful way to build a network on the internet.

Make an X List of accounts you want to connect with and hit that list with replies every day.

Also make sure you talk on at least 1 Space a week. X Spaces are BY FAR the best way to make new, deeply personal connections. It’s much easier to feel connected with someone through voice, rather than through text.

Spaces allows you to do this.

I personally guarantee if you go onto a Space, go on stage, and share your personal opinions and story, you will gain at least 1 true fan every time.

My new favorite way to build deeply personal connections is with live streams. I now live stream 2-3 times a week.

When people can see your face and hear your voice, that adds another deep layer of connection that isn’t possible in any other way.

You don’t need a massive audience to start live streaming. Even if you start one up and only get 2 or 3 people in, that’s 2 or 3 people that will now become your true fan. Well on your way to 1,000.

Personally I use StreamYard to live stream. Makes it incredibly easy to hit a button and go live. Highly recommended if you’ve never gone live before.

Every time you do a reply, a Space, or a Livestream and those people see your message and story, you’ll gain at least 1 true fan. THIS is how you start building your snowball. THIS is how you get it to start rolling down the hill. 1 true fan at a time.

Monetization will follow

A lot of people build their following on X so they can eventually make a living and quit their job. That’s what I did.

If you follow these steps, and just fully focus on building your authority and earning 1,000 true fans, the monetization will become a byproduct of those fans.

It won’t require advanced strategies or crazy email funnels. You’ll share your message, gain fans, then opportunity will follow.

Now these strategies are simple, but not easy. The reason not everyone can do this is because 99% of people will quit after a couple days of trying these steps.

They won’t see results right away and they’ll quit.

Be the 1% who sticks with these strategies long term and I promise you’ll get your 1,000 true fans.
