I’ve Fallen In Love

I’ve fallen heads over heels in love with live streaming, and I don’t care who knows it.

Every day for the past 7 days I've live streamed on X and it's been the best experience of my life.

7 days ago I saw a post from an X employee that said live streaming on X now has a chat box, putting it on par with other popular streaming platforms like Twitch.

So I said fuck it, we’ll do it live.

I was unbelievably nervous. I never created content like this before. Just me and a camera.

I didn’t even know if people would show up or I would be talking to just myself.

I really didn’t have a plan. I downloaded OBS (without losing $150,000 this time) and set up my camera and mic.

Booted up Fortnite (I don’t even like the game).

Then I hit stream.

For the next 2 hours I had the most fun of my life.

So I challenged myself. I wanted to live stream every single day. And every day I wanted to just get a little better.

So for the past 7 days straight I’ve been live streaming, and every day the audience has gotten bigger and bigger.

I truly believe it's the future of X

But I've gotten a ton of questions on if it's gaining me followers/attention, or if there are any benefits at all.

Here's the truth about live streaming on X, and why I’m challenging you to try something uncomfortable this week:

🔶Alex is it gaining you followers?

No, right now it isn't.

At the moment discoverability of live streams is it's weak spot.

The only ways to know if a person is live streaming is if it appears at the top of your feed or they see the tweet

People who don't follow you are unlikely to see you

🔶 OK, so is it getting you a ton of impressions?

Nope, not that either. I'm getting good viewership (about 7,000 views a stream). In fact my viewership is so good I'm technically just behind Ninja when it comes to live viewers on X.

But this doesn't translate to impressions if that's something you are about

My X check certainly won't be any bigger because of it.

Long form posts get WAY more impressions and take WAY less time

🔶Ok so then why the hell are you spending 2 hours a day talking to yourself on camera if it isn't getting you followers or impressions?

3 major reasons:

1. It's the most fun I've had making content ever
2. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable, which means I’m doing something right. Discomfort = growth.
3. I'm building relationships with my core audience I could have only dreamed of before

The kind of relationships I'm building with the 7,000 people who attend the live stream every day are impossible to build with just tweets

We have inside jokes

We DM constantly

I've made TRUE friends

🔶So what's your endgame dude?

My end game is simple:

I strongly believe live streaming is the future of X. I think X will be the biggest live streaming platform in the world

When that reality hits, I'll be in the number 1 spot because I'm building NOW

Also, it’s making me unbelievably uncomfortable, which I know for a fact is growing my skillsets.

Here’s my challenge to you: try something new this week that makes you uncomfortable.

Do a live stream, send a DM, write a personal story. I really don’t care.

But it always seems like most of my growth comes from when I do something uncomfortable, so I have 0 doubt this live stream will be successful.
